The space

Welcome to Akab, a hidden gem in Playa del Carmen's peaceful Playacar development.

This lovely 1 bedroom oasis is the perfect getaway for those looking to experience everything that Playa del Carmen has to offer, but don't want to break the bank in the process. Akab is located in the gated community named Playacar-Fase 2, that is known for combining nature with first class amenities.

The condo is on the second floor and boasts a beautiful open concept feel. The bedroom with king sized bed can be closed off from the main living space to create a private bedroom. The bedroom itself looks onto the pool and the balcony with large patio doors let in a lot of natural light.

The living area features a double sized futon and flows nicely with the kitchen where guests can prepare their meals and still be a part of the conversation. Although Playa is known for its amazing restaurants, you'll have everything you need to cook up a great meal!

The outdoor spaces in Akab are comprised of two main lounging areas each with their own pool so that you can always find a quiet corner to relax. You'll notice the entire development is surrounded by trees and shrubs which add to the laid back, tropical feel.

From the condo, enjoy the peaceful walk to the beach or to 5th Avenue both of which are a short 15 minute walk away. Don't care to walk? Take advantage of the fee golf cart shuttle to the beach!

Interaction with guests

You will receive an email shortly after booking on how to check-in, including Wi-Fi and all other pertinent details. To respect your privacy we will not bother you after check-in unless you need us. Feel free to reach out to us at anytime if you have any questions.

Other things to note

There are some differences in Mexican infrastructure that limit water and internet service. While certain situations are out of my control, my goal is to make sure you have an enjoyable stay.

***Because many people ask***:
1. Payment- You “submit a booking” which means you pay the full amount now. We do not get paid until after your arrival. There are no cash transactions, and unfortunately you may not put down a deposit.

2. Deposit - Airbnb does not charge the deposit at all unless there is a claim for damages after check-out.

3. Unfortunately, we don’t have more pictures of the house and are unable to send you any more.

4. The site blocks telephone numbers until you have booked your trip, so we are unable to call you.

5. ***Electricity costs are extremely high in Mexico. Any consumption will be charged at a rate of 4 pesos (about 20 US$ cents) per kWh, according to the meter readings at your check-in and check-out. Upon check-in you will be asked for a 30 USD deposit, paid in cash, or we will later on after your check-out, send for a money request on Airbnb. Turning off the air conditioners when out enjoying Playa is usually enough to stay within a very reasonable and cheap consumption.***
